BASKETBALL While Mizzou Arena is Rocking... "Missouri State needs a major overhaul in its basketball experience"

Our little brother to the Southwest is evidently struggling,,,

FOOTBALL FRESNO ST QB JAKE HAENER ON KIRBY MOORE AND HIS OFFENSE

Credit goes to Eric Edholm with NFL.com for these nuggets.

Q: What were kind of the core principles in your mind of Kirby's offense? Like what were the things that were sort of the bread and butter elements in your offense there?

A: Yeah, I think the crossers were obviously a huge staple in our offense, the option routes were really big and then the vertical pass game at times when we can protect with something that we'd like to get to. But, you know, the one thing I really appreciated with Kirby is he trusted me a lot and allowed me to get to different things and protection and change concepts, you know, fulfilled and allowed me to dictate what we wanted to try to get done at times when I saw you know, what we had talked about on tape.

Q: You had all those late-game heroics in 2021. Does that trust level come out in those gotta-have-it situations?

A: Yeah, and I think the older you get, the more you prove that you can handle and the more you show that you're … you're ready for your coordinators (couldn’t make out what he said) so the leash just keeps getting bigger and the more you learn, the more you mature, the better you're gonna play.

Here’s the story from last month about what to expect from Moore: https://missouri.rivals.com/news/ge...and-what-he-wants-to-do-with-mizzou-s-offense

KC Tigers hear from Jeff Passan, ESPN baseball columnist

The baseball talk continued for the Tiger Club this week, with ESPN MLB columnist Jeff Passan. Jeff follows Royals GM J.J. Picollo and Mizzou baseball coach Steve Bieser as guests on the Hot Stove circuit at the Club.

Next week, talk switches to basketball, as Mizzou and Blue Springs South alum Kevin Puryear visits on Feb. 7. The Club meets each Tuesday for lunch at the Westport Flea Market Bar & Grill.

FOOTBALL Nick Saban turned down 2 players who wanted huge NIL deals

Are the reports of all the multi-million dollar NIL deals really true?

I thought this article was worth sharing...

“Someone with one of the best corners in the nation (in high school) came to me and asked if we’d pay them $800,000 for the player to sign here. I told him he can find another place to play,” Saban said, according to Baker High School football coach Steve Normand. “I’m not paying a kid a bunch of NIL money before he earns it.”

“One of them wanted $500,000 and for us to get his girlfriend into law school at Alabama and pay for it. I showed him the door,” Saban reportedly said.

BASKETBALL Watching Mississippi State/South Carolina

This is truly one of the ugliest games I've watched this year. Both teams running zone (barf), both teams taking 16 minutes to score 20 points (disgusting), both teams using maroon as a school color (Why are there so many red/maroon teams in this conference?). I don't even have any notes on the game yet, I've just been shaking my head the whole time. The score is close and GG Jackson is playing but I wouldn't recommend turning it on.
