BASKETBALL Mizzou's defensive numbers

Per KenPom

3rd in the country in turnover %, forcing a turnover on 26% of opposing possessions
1st in the country in steal % at 16.4%
238th in effective FG% at 51.6
357th in offensive rebound percentage, allowing a second chance on 37.1% of possessions
154th in adjusted defensive efficiency

Basically, Missouri's defensive success is predicated almost entirely on taking the ball away. If you can manage to hold on to the ball, they become a bottom 1/4 defensive team in America. Not revelatory information, but does put some numbers to it.

BASKETBALL The Next Five

All the talk heading into December was the five game segment of kU, UCF, Illinois, Kentucky and Arkansas. Most said one win would be great. Mizzou got three. The expectations went from this is a possible bubble team to this team is probably a tournament team.

The next five are where we determine what this team really is. Vandy, @A&M, @Florida, Arkansas, Alabama. Three of the worst 5-6 teams in the league and then two really tough teams on your home court.

Is this team going to be a Top 4 team in the league and competing for a Top 16 seed? Probably need to go 4-1. 3-2 is the mark you need to hit if you want to stay out in front of the bubble muck. Anything worse? Don’t even want to talk about it.

Interesting hoops transfer portal big man prospect for next year

We know we tried hard to get the Western Kentucky big guy. But all is not lost. Check out Connor Williams #50 for Fisher, a seven footer who can drain three pointers effortlessly, snags rebounds, and passes well from the high post...a true "positionless basketball" guy that fits our system perfectly. And best of all his lifestyle choices making him relatable to most Rivals message board posters.
