OFF TOPIC Old-timey nicknames for sports

Something made me think of the term “cagers”; it was word used long ago to describe basketball players. A newspaper headline might have read, “Missouri cagers to take on Oklahoma”, for example.
So I began making a mental list of other similar nicknames.
Cagers Basketball
Grapplers Wrestling
Thinclads Track/Cross Country
Kegglers Bowling
Gridders Football
Anglers Fishing
Hurlers Baseball (pitchers only)

Anybody (looking at you Boomers) got any others?

BASKETBALL Mizzou is currently 2nd in the nation in steals and D'Moi Hodge is the SEC leader...

Mizzou is second in the nation (the whole nation!) with 10.7 steals per game (trailing only the ball-hawking Hawks of Maryland-Eastern Shore).

D’Moi Hodge and he leads the Southeastern Conference in steals. His 2.3 steals per game is second-highest in Mizzou history, trailing Stefhon Hannah from 2006-07 (2.4).

In fact, only 11 players in the nation average more steals per game than the Mizzou guard’s 2.3, yet only three are from a high-major conference.

Besides Hodge, Nick Honor is seventh in SEC, averaging 1.8 steals... and Sean East II is 14th in SEC, averaging 1.4 steals per game.
