Bylaw change on NIL violations

Went into effect on Jan. 1: Bylaw 19.7.3 states that “In cases involving name, image and likeness offers, agreements and/or activities in which related communications and conduct are subject to NCAA regulation, the infractions process shall presume a violation occurred if circumstantial information suggests that one or more parties engaged in impermissible conduct. The enforcement staff may make a formal allegation based on the presumption. The hearing panel shall conclude a violation occurred unless the institution or involved individual clearly demonstrates with credible and sufficient information that all communications and conduct surrounding the name, image and likeness activity complied with NCAA legislation.”

More or less, teams are now guilty until proven innocent

Chatter about the Arena being a hard place to play

Haven't seen anyone mention this, right before our game began last night, the talking heads brought up the Arena rocking and being loud. Patric Young said they are mean when you play there. They actually do research on you. They know what you had for dinner that night.
We loved it. Go students and Go Antlers...

BASKETBALL Experience question

I don’t know where to begin to find this answer so I will just ask the question.

Does anyone know where we rank in terms of average team age and/or most experienced teams in the country.

We’re obviously a very old team in terms of college because of adding so many transfers in Hodge, Honor, Gomillion, Carter, Gholston, Mosely.. even East is 21/22,

NEW STORY CLOSING THOUGHTS FROM MIZZOU ARENA

Let me say this above all else: This team is fun as hell.

*I look forward to games now. They're just really fun to watch. They never slow down. My column on that is here.
There are times that's not great, like at the end of the first half when Sean East fired up a shot with 25 seconds left and Missouri could have held for the final shot. But Dennis Gates even talked about that after the game and said they have to do a better job communicating and looking at the clock, but he's not outright against the shot because it might be the best shot Missouri has in that possession. But the expression all gas, no brakes was invented for this team. I can see this season ending sooner than you want it to because they run into a team that's shooting as well as they are right now and they're not particularly good at defending or rebounding. I can also see this season last pretty deep into March. But it's really entertaining to watch.

*Kobe Brown is entering SEC player of the year territory. 10 for 11 tonight. 5/6 from three. Gates talked postgame about having to convince Kobe he wanted him to shoot. Noah Carter said "Kobe Brown can shoot the leather off the ball." He did it outside, then in the second half he just bullied his way to the basket and did it inside.

*The ball movement on this team is the best I've seen since Frank Haith's first team, which remains the gold standard for offensive basketball at Mizzou. They had five players with three assists or more. Every single player who played more than 2:19 had at least one assist. There was one possession where three different guys passed up an open three to get D'Moi Hodge a slightly more open three and he made it.

*I hope you guys watch the postgame video

These guys and their coach are starting to show a little more personality. It's a fun team to cover and to watch.

*You never know who's going to be the guy to be the secondary star (Kobe is usually the primary one). Tonight, it was probably Carter, who hadn't been very good of late, but hit three early threes and ended with 14 points, 4 assists and 2 rebounds. It also might have been DeAndre Gholston, who had 14 of his own. Missouri has seven players averaging eight points a game or more. The records go back to 1958. Missouri has had six guys at that level a few times, but never seven.

*Tonight was one you needed to win. LSU is kind of a mess. They actually shot it pretty well for a while and hung around, but it never felt like they had a chance to win. Missouri was up at least 10 the entire second half and it felt like 20 because it felt like they could score almost any time they wanted to.

*Saturday feels like a major swing game. If this team can go to Mississippi State and win, they're going to come home and beat South Carolina, they'll be 7-4 in the league on a five-game winning streak before road games at Tennessee and Auburn. If they win Saturday, finding a way into the top four in the league isn't impossible. If they lose Saturday, I think getting that double bye is probably off the table unless they pull something off in Knoxville or Auburn that we don't expect. Either way, it's a tournament team. We're talking about seeding the rest of the way barring something disastrous. That's a pretty good place to be on February 1st.

BASKETBALL POSTGAME THREAD: LSU

-Speaking to Matt McMahon first. He thought Mizzou put on an offensive clinic tonight. He thought there were some chances to cut it to single digits but couldn't stop the offensive avalanche.

-McMahon thought Missouri executed really well -- "They made us pay every time."

-McMahon said that he didn't think his team did a good job of getting past Mizzou's pressure. He said you can't really run plays, so you have to make plays. They didn't do that enough tonight.

-McMahon said he did like some of the shots LSU got but didn't like the number of turnovers they had.
