*This was Missouri worst shooting night so far (at least for quite a bit of the first half) but it didn't matter because Coastal Carolina was worse. The Chanticleers had just 11 points in the first 13 minutes and were just 4/21 from the floor to start. I'm sure the defense was better, but it also just shows you the law of averages. Sometimes a team is going to come in and shoot lights out. Sometimes it's going to be ice cold.
*This was
Isiaih Mosley's best night so far. After 18 second half points in the MVSU game, he had 14 in the first 20 minutes tonight (and he only played ten of them). He didn't start, but he barely leave the floor once he came in. In his last 40 minutes of game action (23 played), he's now got 32 points. He's also still the best passer on the team.
*Missouri had 14 assists and only 3 turnovers. That'll play. There were some highlight reel passes from
D'Moi Hodge and
DeAndre Gholston.
*I appreciate the freedom Kobe Brown has, but I'd still like to see him play in the paint more and shoot fewer jump shots. That's just not his game.
*Mizzou did break down (let up) a little in the last four minutes. A couple of turnovers led to a couple CC buckets that made the score closer than it was much of the first half. A 14-5 run cut the lead to 11, but Mizzou scored the next five to stretch it back out before Coastal put together a mini run in the last 90 seconds.
*There were a couple threes that when they went up I said "terrible shot" but then they went in. So I guess they weren't terrible shots. Everybody on the floor seems to pretty much have the green light at all times. Missouri shot 20 threes, which is on pace to break the school record of 38 attempts in a game. That record may not fall tonight, but it seems like it's going to at some point.
*This team is really good in transition. If they can get out and run, they're going to be able to play with some teams you wouldn't think they'd be able to play with.
*
Ronnie DeGray got some run.
Mohammed Diarra did not. Neither did
Kaleb Brown and we didn't see much of
Aidan Shaw (five minutes).
