Just caught the tail end of the Kentucky vs Texas Western 1966 game replayed on ESPN.
As the Miners' player was shooting a free throw, a Kentucky guy was late getting to the side of the lane and ran behind him and then took an open spot on the lane just as the Miner shot the free throw. A little later, as a Miner was shooting a free throw, a guy from Kentucky was standing about 5ft from the base line and maybe 5 ft behind the guys on the lane towards the sideline.
This all occurred in the last minute of play.
Found it very interesting how different the rules must have been then compared to the rules now regarding where the defenders can go when the other team is shooting a free throw.
Any body else see the replay on ESPN?
