This was a bit of a surprise only in that it's occurring in the wokest state of them all.

The 100% all-electric vehicle sales goal is and always has been an alt-left pipe dream. Electric vehicle manufacturers can't turn a profit without govt subsidies or non-standard revenues on the books. For whatever reasons, most consumers don't want sedans, and we've yet to be presented with all-electric full-size SUV or light-duty truck options. I've got another 50 years on this planet and I can assure you that gasoline-powered vehicles will continue to be the leading choice of consumers for all of that period of time.

Electric vehicles have some value in niche circumstances, but they aren't the do-everything vehicle Americans require.
