Drink’s first full class at Mizzou was the 2021 class which ranked #19 per Rivals.
Below are the five 4 Star recruits in the 2021 class:
-Tyler Macon: Will never be the #1 QB for an SEC program. Likely will be in the transfer portal after the 2022 season.
-Travion Ford: Not a whisper of Ford being good enough to compete for playing time. We’ll see, but early returns are not promising.
-Ky Montgomery: Injured since Fall Camp in 2021. Will he ever be able to get past the injuries and be a contributor on the DL.
-Daylan Carnell: Future all SEC player. This one was a win for Drink.
-Dominic Lovett: With a good QB could be a star at Mizzou. This one was a win for Drink.
-Mekhi Wingo: Not a Rivals 4 Star, but as a true freshman was the biggest contributor from the 2021 class. Wingo transferring to LSU really hurts the 2021 class.
So, of the six highest rated players from the 2021 class it appears that Drink found two, maybe three, contributors.
Hitting on only 33% - 50% of your top six players in the #19 class in the country indicates that class looked a lot better on paper than in reality.
