Although Missouri added its second wide receiver commit Wednesday in Devyon Hill-Lomax, the program hasn't necessarily shut the door on a third.
Along with Hill-Lomax, the Tigers hosted four-star Jayden Petit during their final official visit session of June this past weekend. Petit, who added Missouri to his schedule later than other pass-catching targets, got one-on-one time with quarterback pledge Gavin Sidwar.
Petit and Sidwar shared a bus ride from the airport to campus for their official visit. Sidwar, a native of Pennsylvania, has spent vacations in Petit's hometown of Naples, Florida, a city the two quickly bonded over.
"Me and him had a great time," Petit said. "Built a great connection pretty fast. From him, I learned a lot about Mizzou and how they treat people and how they're family oriented."
Wide receivers coach Jacob Peeler offered Petit in July 2024, visiting the the No. 52 Florida recruit in person this past spring. While picking up on their relationship later into the process, Peeler still impressed Petit with his football knowledge, sending the 6-foot-4, 220-pounder home with new drills to focus on.
"Just ways to attack a jump ball," Petit said. "Ways to use my body to get open."
Even with misses on Florida wide receivers in the past, Peeler has continued to hone in on the state, adding four-star Jabari Brady earlier this month. The Tigers lined up Petit with freshman Donovan Olugbode, a Midwest native and product of Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy, offering the two to connect on two regions of the country.
Petit also took official visits to North Carolina, Oklahoma and Wisconsin, but he's not looking to take anymore before his commitment. When it came to eyeing a decision date, the wideout noted he's taking it day by day.
