1. Barry Odom was the right choice for DC. Our D will keep us in some games we shouldn't be.
2. Coach Kul is still the best DL coach in America. Our DL wrecks havoc damn near every down regardless of personnel.
3. Penton needs to be replaced at PR. He makes bad decisions, didn't wave off the return team on the turnover and lacks the speed and cutting ability to be a legit threat. Please give this job to Wingo. I'm sure he can watch punts bounce to the 1 yard line and fair catch punts just as effectively as AP. I understand Murph is hard to replace but we are back to the Carl Gettis punt return years that proved to be nothing more than a liability that will cost us.
4. We have no offensive identify. We're sure as shit not a power running team. We're not an air raid spread offense that specializes in passing, we're not a pro-set offense like Bama. We're not a gimmick offense like GT or Nevada's old pistol. We just jog out and throw some WR screens praying someone on the defense falls down and we're fast enough to run for a TD.
We don't huddle but we're not hurry up. We only run zone read with a dual threat QB who won't run the ball. We don't throw designed RB screens but our OL blocks like that's what we're doing. Our offense doesn't seem to attack or specialize in anything, we just throw and run to the sidelines which would be awesome if that's where the end zones were. Our TE disappear from the passing game for 3Q at a time and our run game doesn't improve when we attach them to the line. We have no tickeration and don't do anything offensively I think another team would want to replicate. Worse of all, we don't seem to change anything. Rinse and repeat. When is the last time you said, "wow, I didn't see that last week!" Run game struggle against arkansas state? Good time to dust off the pistol or do some more designed QB runs? Nope.
Maybe it's young, inexperienced WR not doing much blocking or receiving. Maybe it's an OL still trying to find its identity or someone to block. Maybe it's a RB corp planning on Hansbrough doing everything this year. Maybe it's a QB who has no rhythm and has been bled of all swag he had as a RSFR. However, when their powers combine, it's an absolute shit sandwich that is painful to watch...like a car accident...you don't want to watch it but you can't divert your eyes (cause that's our freaking team and we can't help it). However, if I was a random fan tuning into our game I'd be bored, unimpressed and confused as to how we ever won as many games as we have.
