We’re back and better than ever. @zoutiger22 is a beacon for positivity.
1. The Tigers are back in the win column! At the end of the day, that’s the only thing that matters. We can sit around and sulk about how bad it looked or how it shouldn’t even count, but I say BS. You never apologize for wins, especially conference wins.
2. Luther Burden had his best game in a Mizzou uniform. He reminded everyone how electric he is with the ball in his hands when he is healthy. Also, no drops this week! Growth and progress from Luther.
3. How long has it been since Mizzou had an elite secondary? Even on Pinkel’s best teams, I always felt like the secondary was a weakness and it drove me nuts. Not on this team. KAD had one of the most impressive days from a corner that I’ve seen in awhile. Ennis Rakestraw has turned his season around. He is playing the best football of his career right now. Charleston has been as solid as you can ask for coming out of the portal. Throw in Carlies, Norwood, and Carnell. Shout out to Blake Baker and Al Pogue for developing these guys.
4. Coming out of a bye, you want to see tangible evidence that the team is addressing some of the issues that have plagued the season so far. I saw two positive signs from the game yesterday. 1. An elimination of most of the stupid penalties (especially offensively). 2. A faster start. The offense came out and scored a touchdown on the first drive. That hasn’t happened. The defense was dynamite out of the gate.
5. @zoutiger22 ’s “Be The Best You Can Be” award winners of the week: Jake Hoffman and Daniel Hawthorne. This award will go out to an under appreciated player on the team each week. The only time we notice long snappers is when they mess up and we absolutely crush them for it. They get zero credit or glory. Mizzou special teams hasn’t had a bad snap all season that I can remember. Props to those guys for their hard work and execution.
