I keep reading everyone saying Gates has to kill it in the portal or else. What does it actually means to kill it in the portal? If he goes and pluck the number 1 and 2 rated transfers and don't make the tournament, are y'all cool with that? If he gets those 2 and they both tear their ACL, are y'all fine with him getting those players, yet they didn't contribute?

I know it's a results driven landscape we're dealing with, but killing it in the portal doesn't always translates to wins. I think folks are going to be highly disappointed if they're expecting Gates to go all out in the portal. This roster isn't set up for that to happen. Also, it wouldn't make sense to sign this big class to only go major shopping in the portal.

If it were me, I'd run it back with Tonje and Grill. Grab a mid-tier F and CG who would be around for a year, then groom my 8 underclassmen. You don't break the bank for a .500 season. You break the bank when you're one or 2 pieces away from competing for championships. It doesn't make sense to blow the whole roster up, like some of y'all suggests.

I've also seen comments about Gates being too smart for his own good. Regarding him not spending big in the portal and relying on his player development and coaching skills. Don't we want a coach who takes pride in his ability to develop players and coach them up? I know some are skeptical of Gates, but to not take injuries into consideration when judging this season is crazy. I'm still a huge believer of the man and I expect the Mizzou Men's basketball team will have great success under Coach Gates..MIZ
