First I took a bunch of crap for saying that over the past handful of games X and Dru were the best guard duo in the SEC. Almost everyone pointed to Ole Miss as the shinning example of me being a homer. Welp Mizzou two best guards 49 to 36 with Ole Miss taking their two best. Tyree is a hell of a player. However, as good as he was he had so many turnovers, with many of them being unforced and at terrible times. Pinson on the other hand was solid with the ball and came up huge hitting free throws to close it out.
2nd Now that I got my bragging out of the way I will eat some crow. I think I was wrong about Braun. Maybe I was a bit racist against my own people’s. I assumed he wasn’t athletic enough to do anything with his body type. He is actually super athletic. When it is all said and done he may be one of the top shot blockers we have had in a long time. Who said white guys cant jump.
While I still would prefer to see Jackson in over Mitch it is hard is complain when the game ends in a W. Also found it odd that Watson was pulled immediately after hitting a 3. The guy is a streaky shooter. Would be nice to leave him out there to catch fire.
There have been some terrible refs this year but these guys may take the cake. Pinson scores 32 points but had to miss 13 minutes of the game when he got “2” fouls. When he did not touch or say a single word to the opposing player in either instance. He would almost certainly have gotten 40 without that. Either the refs interpreted hook and hold wrong or that rule is just terrible. There were several more missed calls. It didn’t alter the outcome of the game though so at least there is that.
There are no guaranteed wins left but every game is winnable. If they somehow managed to do that and win 2 in Nashville this may actually be a tournament team. More likely this team has a good chance to play itself into a decent NIT team. Given where we were a few weeks ago that is an accomplishment.
