I walked into school today at Belleville East and our Superintendent was in the hallway. I’m decked out in all Mizzou gear from head to toe because I’m going to the game this afternoon...
The Superindendrnt says, “I’m getting to know Cuonzo real well. I hope EJ goes to Mizzou.” I said me too and asked him why he felt that way.
He said that Cuonzo sends letters and posters to the him, the secretaries at Belleville West and anybody he contacts at Belleville West. He said he sent a poster of EJ Liddell in a Mizzou uniform signed by Cuonzo to both he and the Asst Super. Said he sends them hand written notes and I inspirational quotes on a regular basis.
Our Super is a good dude and a sports fan, but not necessarily a Mizzou fan. Well, he is now! Said he’s pulling for Mizzou to get EJ. He was downright giddy showin me a picture of he and Cuonzo!!
We’ve hired a professional recruiter!!!
Also... I asked if any other schools have ever done this. We’ve had numerous D1 kids in recent years. He said Ohio State was the only other school doing anything remotely similar and that was a thank you letter for letting Coach Holtman(??) park in the front.
