Just got done watching the game again. Here are a few observations.
1) Somebody posted about this earlier, but I couldn't see it clearly in their link. Stoops flagrantly signals his player to fake an injury after Badie's near fumble. It starts at the 7:35 mark of the 3rd quarter. He is basically hunched over holding is right hamstring. As soon as the player goes down, Stoops is back to normal. I couldn't believe it and it was hard to tell exactly who it was, but he was the only coach wearing a dark blue pull over. If I am Coach Drink, I send this to the league for this alone.
2) Where did they get these refs? I have never seen a crew so lousy at spotting the ball. Rountree was the victim of this at least twice in big situations. They marked him short on the 3rd down play at the 7 yard line. It looked pretty clear to me that he damn near got to the 5 yard line. When the ref came in to spot the ball, Rountree's entire body was beyond where the ref was marking the ball. That shitty spot cost us a TD. On the ensuing drive, they spotted Rountree short of the goal line and it looked to me like he clearly broke the plain. We did end up scoring a TD on the next play. There were many other occasions where they spotted the ball incorrectly, including Mizzou's 4th and 1 to end the game. I didn't think Badie got anywhere near the line to gain (the game was basically over at that point anyway).
3) Speaking of scoring TD's, Daniel Parker Jr. is the man. He absolutely bulldozed a path to the endzone for both of Rountree's TD runs. He appears to be rounding into shape and we can certainly use his blocking abilities the rest of the season.
In summery, this was an outstanding win for the Tigers. Having said that, this referee crew should be banished to Siberia and never be allowed to officiate another game as long as they live. What is it with refs and Kentucky. Like I posted in the 1st point, if I am Coach Drink, I am definitely sending a copy of this game with notes. Stoops should be suspended, fined or both!!!
