"Gloom, despair and agony on me
deep dark depression, excessive misery
if it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all
gloom, despair and agony on me"...segment from Hee-Haw (YouTube if it isn't permanently etched in your brain)

Being an older generation Mizzou fan, you younger bucks could spare me a little cynicism. I'm the old feller' in the straw hat, holy overalls and barefoot sitting' in the rocking' chair on the front porch of the wood shack. It's a beautiful sunny summer day, and I see my grandson making his way up the half mile long, winding, dirt road through the woods to my little hillbilly hideaway. Of course, he's driving one of those shiny, jacked-up four wheel drive trucks and everything in life is fresh and exciting and full of all possibilities. We have a pleasant visit and I mostly listen and nod in approval without comment because I want the best for him. After he's slowed down enough for me to get a word in edgewise, I point to a bank of clouds off in the distance and warn him that he might want to start making his way back down the road. He laughs and tells me not to worry and every time he comes to visit it cracks him up to see my old, rusted out, two wheel drive pick parked at the end of the road....(short story long with apologies); I wind up pulling his shiny ass truck out of the creek he slid off into with my old mules I keep in the stable around back.
Long winded and not so apt an analogy but my point is, us old codgers have seen a lot and have been through many ups and downs with our team. It's not that we don't want this team to succeed any less than anyone else. I believe that most of the cynicism on here is from those like me who think this new coach and his staff still have something to prove. SHOW ME. Questioning certain offers, personnel decisions or game day coaching decisions isn't an indictment as much as it is a desire to see them succeed and to hold them to account according to that desire. We're all family and some are more colorful than others.
