This was later than usual due to some running around this morning and a delay in sources getting back to me.
Ok so Mizzou got CJ Roberts, now they have on scholarship remaining. It appears the staff will go one of two ways, neither of which should surprise anyone.
1. Get a big man
2. Get the best overall player they possible can.
On the big man front, Missouri has its eye on Sterling Manley, Anthony Longpre and Mark Tikhonenko. Don't ask me to spell that again. But he's a 6-10 forward from Russia who currently plays high school ball in Tennessee. Manley is out of Ohio and played AAU with Willie Jackson. Longpre took an official visit to George Washington this past weekend, while news came out that they fired their coach. Can't imagine what that must be like but I figure that's one less school for Missouri to worry about.
Victor Bailey Jr. visits Tulsa THIS weekend instead of last. CJ Roberts told me he planned to call VJ and see where his recruitment stood. If Bailey gave him an indication that Missouri was still in the mix, he'd try and work some magic. I've heard nothing on Nojel Eastern and with the commitment of CJ Roberts, it appears Missouri is off Marcus Carr. Carr and Roberts had similar games and Carr has had an ACL tear in the last year. With Roberts on board I see why they moved on.
Additionally, Missouri still appears to have some chips in play overseas. Add those guys to names I can barely pronounce, let alone spell. I asked around with some scouts if any of the names ring a bell. They said no, but granted they don't focus much on guys overseas. I'm working on getting some highlight tapes of these guys.
Side note for 2018: Missouri really likes Christian Bishop out of Lee's Summit. The staff watched him on Monday and the word out of his unofficial visit on Saturday was that the players loved his personality and the way he fit into their style of play during pickup. Word on the street is Bishop is very underrated, with one scout telling me they'd take him over Torrence Watson if they had to pick. Regardless of who is coaching next year an ideal class would be some combination of Bishop, Watson and Carte'Are Gordon.
