Looking at threads today, TCU is staring at a $40M committment to lure Jamie Dixon.

This weekend, @billbabler posted this about Gregg Marshall:

Harp, you are right. I don't know how to link, but there is a great article in the Wichita Business Journal that fully describes his contract and the value to not only the university but the entire community. Gregg's total package is 3.3 with 100% of the money coming from private donations and endorsements. Zero public or university funds.
What is really interesting in the piece is the revenue that is generated by the team and what that represents as far as the athletic department. It is a higher percentage than even kU BB.
By filling the arena to the rafters game after game it generates millions of dollars to the community.
We can only wish.

There are several articles confirming his information which are available by Googling Wichita Business Journal Gregg Marshall. I will link 3.

My question is whether it is common for donors to carry the laboring oar with a basketball coach salary. And if it is, are we that deficient in terms of donor support? And I do not intend to criticize donors in the least. I'm just wondering if that's an area we are not competitive with P5 programs.
