Just watched Mizzou-SLU replay on SECN+.
This is the Aijha Blackwell that owns a skillset that @hoodtiger raved about. Had seen sporadic glimpses of her talent but had not yet put it all together.
Until last night.... Wow! What a display by Blackwell. From opening tip she dominated. Took opening tip for layup and the show was on. No look passes. Setting up her teammates. Post up moves for baskets. Step back threes. Drive into the paint and step back for short jumper. Blocked shots. Got on the floor after loose balls. Hit all her free throws (which had been a struggle)
Great smile and interaction with teammates. I think she set the tone and her teammates fed off of it.
@hoodtiger You think she had been pressing some to start the year? She looked relaxed and loose. It was also her first start which leads me to wonder if that had an impact.
She showcased so many parts of her game. 17 points 6 boards 3 assists (and could have been a few more if teammates finished) 2 steals 2 blocks. Only thing to cleanup is 5 TOs but she had the ball in her hands a ton as she ran the offense.
Makes me wonder if Pingeton made some adjustments to give Blackwell the keys to drive this team.
Awesome full game effort.
