Don't remember Uncle Al causing a big stink when The Color Purple, The Help, Prescious, Ray, D'Jango Unchained, 12 Years a Slave, etc., were dominating the award show circuit. Plus, hasn't he noticed the unpredictable, triumphant return of Salt'n'Peppa to the mainstream in the Geico ads?
Am I wrong or is the possibility greater that he incites more eye rolling at black people than he eliminates? This is ridiculous. The Lego Movie was masterful in the animation realm, yet it was snubbed entirely except for best song. No Legos are calling emergency meetings that I'm aware of. In fact, the film's director handled it with a great deal of humor, tweeting out an image of an Oscar statue built out of Legos with the caption, "No big deal, we made our own. Everything is still awesome."
