He's no Heisman contender, but what he brings is something that will make the entire team play so much better.
1) We sucked at KR last year, and he is 3rd all-time KR at OU. This is HUGE. Better field position for an offense that probably still won't be very good will at least win field position battles for the defense. There were a few games last year where we could have won with a few FGs and his KR skills can do that.
2) As a back-up in 2014, he rushed for more yards than Witter did as our primary back last year. A better running game will keep defenses honest and provide a little protection that Lock and the WR desperately need. With Ross starting, this should also allow Witter to excel because he won't be relied upon to do everything in the running game.
Am I way off base here? AM I putting too much stock in a guy that was never a starter before?
