We started this in another thread. Again the criteria are 1) played high school baseball in Missouri and 2) played in the World Series.
Not sure about any batting order but here is the lineup.
LF, Al "Fuzzy" Smith, Douglas High School Webster Groves, Cleveland Indians
CF, Bake McBride, Fulton High School, Phillies
RF, Mike "moon man" Shannon, CBC High School, Cardinals
1st, Albert Pujols, Fort Osage High School, Cardinals
2nd, Frank White, Lincoln High KC, Royals
SS, Forrest Glenn Wright, Archie High School, Pirates
3rd, Ken Boyer, Alba High School, Cardinals
C, Joe Garagiola, St. Mary's High School, Cardinals*
All the above players have three things in common:
1) All played high school baseball in Missouri.
2) All played in the World Series,
3) And with the exception of Joe Garagiola, they all hit a home run in the World Series. I used #3 to pick the starters.
I could replace Garagiola with Yogi Berra and then all of the starters would have hit at least one home run in the World Series. However, Yogi does not meet the original criteria because he dropped out of school after the 8th grade!
Pitchers
Mark Buehrle, St. Charles, White Sox
Ken Holtzman, University High, Oakland,
Max Scherzer, Parkway, Detroit
Jerry Reuss, Ritenour, Dodgers
Relief Pitchers
Cliff Politte
Trevor Rosenthal
Closer
Tom Henke
Big thanks to all who submitted names, etc.
