As I've mentioned, the alumni (former player) support is completely behind Vitello here. That isn't speculation on my part. However, I threw out a number saying I'd been told that a former player had discussed donating $20 mil at some point. And I HAVE been told that by a few people, however, upon getting better info, it appears that number is high.
I think donations will be made and I think there would be significant financial support (particularly if Vitello is the next coach) and I think the program would be in a much better spot. However, $20 million (which seemed a bit extreme to me) is a number that appears not to be accurate.
