Another take on Lock

My thought on Lock being elevated to 2nd string has everything to do with winning in 2015.

I believe Mizzou got Atlanta last year in spite of Mauk.

Our awesome defense kept us in most games until Mauk got started. It is unlikely that our defense will perform to a level like last year. So, that means we need more offense performance if we expect to win. Maty seems to be about a 53% passer. The problem is he only completed 35% against South Carolina, 43% against Georgia, and 33% against Florida. It is amazing we won 2 out of those 3 games.

Mauk threw 9 picks in the 7 games. Any fan who has watched Maty knows the number should be higher. Some may say he got better in the second half of the season but I think the coaches just had him hand-off or run more. Just check out the bowl game for how much improvement he made throwing picks. You know how Pinkel feels about turnovers.

I don't think he as improved his fundamental footwork and I'm pretty sure he has reached out to any QB 'guru' for help. Granted, it seems like he quit running backwards and reduced the number of his patented spin moves.

The coaching staff knows we need a QB who can complete passes for this team to win. I think they want the best option available.

I hope Maty can improve, I love his drive and passion but if not let's use the best QB on the team.
