OFF TOPIC Are we seeing the slow death of recreational youth sports?

Curious to hear people's thoughts on this. Youth football has its own set of issues with the concussion stuff, but I'm going to guess you could look at basically every youth sport across the spectrum and the numbers are down. I think there's something to be said for video games, social media, etc. occupying kids' time now, but I've also been shocked at how few kids I see just out playing sports like I did when I was 8-13 years old.

So many of the recreational leagues that kids develop their love for the game in are going to the wayside as this "pay-for-play" model takes over.
