Ross Dellinger (via X):
Alabama AD Greg Byrne mentions that a $40 million deficit in his athletic department from non-revenue producing sports was filled by “revenue of football and basketball.” He does not want to cut sports but “there’s not an unlimited amount of money as some believe," he said.

Seems to me like they are preparing us for the Super-2 split where the football money goes to a salary pool and not subsidizing other sports, which are subsequently cut.
And that makes me wonder if that was part of the friction at Mizzou over the facilities plan … if the future is fewer sports and football is even MORE important, you dont plan for new non-rev sports expenditures. The money they are talking about distributing in the new playoff structure - especially the DIFFERENCE between SEC/BigTen and others - will make it more imperative than ever to be seen as a serious player in CFB.
I know there are Title IX issues but rules have a funny way of changing when theres enough money involved…
