Starts in 20 minutes. I'll pass along info. Make sure you see the new depth chart
Odom said last night was a good practice, good to flush the game, liked how the guys responded.
Said they didn't have the advantage on offense, defense or special teams, but is more excited about the team than he was the first day of camp.
"The state of Missouri needs us to play really well" Saturday. "I can't think of a better week for me and our program to get going."
"There were some positives. I think we played 25 guys that haven't ever played in a college game before."
Missouri ran 100 plays, led the country in offensive pace. Odom says they'll play faster than that at times. Says there will also be times they'll need to slow down.
Said he didn't think the tempo hurt the defense.
Said part of game plan was matching up receivers with linebackers. Said they didn't match it correctly at times. Says he likes the LB and the scheme, "we've got to be better at what we're doing." Says there will be times they play five DBs, but sounds like the linebackers will remain in those situations for now.
Says they played Penton man to man a lot. Held up well and played a good game.
On the OL: "Elarbee, he's never happy, but they have made great progress over fall camp." Says they need to be more aggressive at the point of attack.
Odom said he only remembers two times the QB got hit.
On Zanders: "As long as both of the quarterbacks are practicing the way that they practiced, we feel like they both give us an opportunity to move the football." Says they'll use both guys strategically moving forward.
Odom says his oldest son told him he made a mistake putting Zanders in for Lock in the 2nd quarter. Admitted it was a mistake. Said "I've got some learning to do too." Says Lock and Zanders were both in the complex watching video Saturday night.
On McCann, reiterates his belief in him. Said "he's going to be okay. I need to be really positive because I've seen him do it." Says he wasn't too far off Saturday.
On J'Mon Moore: Practice habits have become so much better. "He has increased, he practices the right way." Says he "showed some things that were impressive, but also I expect more out of him."
On last week's handgun issue, Odom says he doesn't prevent players from owning guns legally. Says story was taken out of context and "I don't know how that gets turned on what the quote was to what the story turned into. I don’t understand that."
Says he doesn't prevent kids from legally owning a gun. Asked another question about it, says "Politics and sports don't mix."
Says he anticipates playing a couple more true freshmen as time goes on. "If we feel like they can, in whatever position, if they can help us go in and play meaningful snaps and help put ourselves in position to be successful, then we're gonna put them in."
Says Missouri is healthy. Everybody will practice (other than Nate Brown and Tanner Owen and Darvis Holmes).
On J'Den Cox: Said J'Den approached him a few weeks ago, really wants to play football. I said "that's great. When are you thinking about?" Says he makes sure he takes care of wrestling and if Cox wants to play football they'll sit down and have a serious conversation.
On Lock, likes the way he stepped up in the pocket, likes the way he ran the offense, completion percentage needs to go up. Says substitution pattern for the QBs will depend on practice still going forward.
On Saturday night "It was fun for me to be able to go recruit...It was a good night for us to be able to do that."
On the OL rotation, he said they travelled 12, said he anticipates playing more than just the starting five this week.
