I'll pass along all the excitement here
Watched film Saturday night and put Florida in the past. Offensively established the run, OL played very well throughout, Witter and Rountree both ran well. Efficient in the passing game. Defensively, "as assignment sound as we've played throughout the course of the year," controlled the line of scrimmage and tackled well
Senior night, Mizzou will honor 19 players. "Plan on them playing a lot more football here over the course of the next few weeks."
Expects to see both Tennessee quarterbacks, running backs are as good as there are in the SEC.
Vols lead the league in pass defense, "we've got plenty of work to do this week to get ready to go play."
On keeping the team grounded: "There won't be any of that. We've got plenty of room for improvement."
On Tucker McCann: Had always seen him do it in practice. "I know he's got the skill set to do it. I think he's grown and matured as a competitor." Has done a great job on placing kickoffs lately as well.
On Crockett: Will continue to take it a week at a time. Don't anticipate him playing this week against Tennessee.
On Sherrils: Has battled injury, hasn't practiced all that well, but has grown up and improved in that aspect. Starting to trust himself on the field.
Asked about Tavon Ross: "If you could draw up (what you want) you're gonna have him. I'm happy for Tavon." Made a lot of plays in the kicking game, helping a lot on defense. Said that Ross played scout team tailback earlier in the year. "He's the ultimate teammate and a heck of a competitor."
Christian Holmes way ahead of schedule, could still play this season. Holmes wants to play if he possibly can, but Odom has to look at the value of playing him vs redshirting. "I hope we have to make the decision on which way to go there. He's eager. He thinks he's ready to go play. We're not there yet."
Approach has been similar throughout the year. COnfidence in ability to execute it has changed. "Credit to our guys. They decided they were tired of it and were going to go get it done."
On Beckner: Seen more quickness, explosiveness, playing at a high level now. Made some big time plays
Tyree Gillespie: Has helped on special teams quite a bit this year. Great athlete who is getting reps at running back and safety in practice. Athletically he can play RB but he's there just in case it comes down to needing him. "I've got a lot of belief in him and so does our staff." Says he has a chance to help in a lot of different ways.
Lot of opportunity left, but they're keeping blinders on, can't look too far in the future.
That's it for today
