"Very disappointed as the head coach to come out on the short end of that one. I've talked about our margin of error being slim to none with who we are on having a chance to go win a game. That'll show up every time. It did tonight."

Defense tackled poorly and didn't get the ball back. Turnover margin hurt. Bad snap on a punt. "Overall defensively didn't give ourselves a chance to win. Thought offensively they hung in there, battled and found a way to score 45 points."

"There's not one day I thought I'd be standing here and have this. There is no confusion at all in my mind. I didn't think this was going to be easy. I didn't think there was going to be one easy thing about this."

"I've got to deal in reality on who we are and where we are"

100 yards in penalties. "We're not gonna win." Will look at if it's a habit they're allowing in practice.

"Frustrated to no end."

Scherer: Full evaluation tomorrow including an MRI.

Wants to watch film before he ID's exact defensive problems. Thought they tackled very poorly. Helped extend drives on penalties. They ran the ball more efficiently than they should have.

Said he reminded the team of 2003 game against MTSU. Talked all week about it being a fourth quarter game.

On Crockett: Offensively, controlled line of scrimmage, ran the ball, 45 points. Pretty good offensive night.

Challenged competitiveness in practice and had a great week. The penalty on kickoff coverage "was a foolish penalty"

"The morale defensively? Pretty pissed off. Just like their head coach is. We've got to find a way to get it fixed."

Losing Scherer hurts, but the next guy has to be ready to go. "He was pretty down. We'll see tomorrow."

Thomas Wilson got banged up early on, didn't feel like he could come back in and play 100 percent.

"He's been a hell of a player, been a tremendous leader, unbelievable kid."

Beckner and Harris did a great job at halftime being vocal with the team. Thought halftime was good.

Playing a number of guys because with the number of snaps they're playing, they have to have a lot of guys ready to go. "I don't think we've got a lot of guys at one spot or the other that are so much better than the number two."

"There's guys that are not listed as a starter who are number two or three. They're getting a scholarship check too. They've got to go earn theirs."
