Tell me if this sounds familiar: the Missouri baseball team is coming off an important weekend series win, comes out flat at midweek and loses a game it should win.
Well, depending on who you ask, that's just what's happened throughout this season. The Tigers have lost their last four midweek games, including last week at Missouri State and a home contest to 14-28 Arkansas - Little Rock.
Missouri coaches and players have blamed these losses on a simple lack of focus. It also didn't help that three of the past four midweek games (Illinois, Missouri State x2) have come against Top 25 opponents. Mizzou also faced the additional challenge of not having senior John Miles available to start in Springfield because of extended use against Vanderbilt. The Tigers' normal midweek pitcher will start on the mound tonight at Taylor Stadium.
Tonight's midweek game sees the Tigers host Southeast Missouri. Despite a 30-17 record, the Redhawks' depth issues and inexperienced starting pitcher (junior Jacob Lawrence has allowed 18 runs in just 21.1 innings pitched) could be enough for Mizzou to break its midweek streak.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. Fans in Columbia can listen on 103.1 KTGR, and fans with access can watch on SEC+
