I am fascinated by the basketball scandal, not because of the results that are coming out or the investigation by the FBI or that somebody finally said to the NCAA you’re letting just a giant mess happen under your nose.
I am fascinated whether this is a surprise to anyone. The collusion among the shoe companies, AAU, handlers, and basketball coaches has been the worst kept secret in sports for the last 10 years. While I will give Cal Pal his due as a coach that can handle a lot of talent on the floor at the same, does anyone really believe UK’s run was because of Ace recruiters or blue blood status or his charm that he was able to assemble all of this one and done talent? This writing was on the wall years ago when articles started coming out about World Wide Wes, Nike, and Cal. Did you really not know Tim Fuller was part of the Nike money club?
My hunch is the FBI has info on many more. They only need to prosecute a few to get the desired result.
I can understand where the average citizen who barely watches college basketball may be surprised by all of this, but I am curious, people on this board, people who actually supposedly pay attention to college sports, did you not know this was going on?
