Baton Rouge or NOLA

I'm starting to plan my LSU trip and I was wondering if it's worth staying in Baton Rouge on Friday or if I should just spend both night on bourbon street? Any advice on cool bars in Baton Rouge with hot chicks or is it similar to Gainesville (sh!*hole)?
