biggest take away newsome can not cover slot guys

just got back from columbia several things I noticed so far in every game ......they have newsome covering the slot receiver and he cant.........PLUS THE MIDDLE OF THE FIELD IN PASS COVERAGE IS WIDE OPEN..........it needs to be fixed. why not an extra safety on third down plays?
