Buying a New TV-OT

Haven't done this in four years and had no idea plasma is dead. Anyway 55inch is about as big as the room can handle and any feedback/advice appreciated. Particularly interested in hearing why you did/didn't go with a curved TV and if you regret your choice. Also if anyone has bought a 4k TV. TIA
