Can GP's greatest strength also be this year's Achilles?

I'm a fan of HCGP. How can a reasonable person not be. What he has done is beyond remarkable. A statue will be built in his likeness when he's through and he'll deserve it and we should all be very grateful. Having said that, is his greatest strength - his inflexible approach to building a program - also be this year's biggest weakness? I've seen it in business where a very successful guy's "winning formula" becomes his mantra and can result in a total lack of flexibility which then leads to a major missed opportunity. I see it with this year's Tigers too. Case in point: the best practice players play on Saturday. Perfectly logical. No doubt Don James would have it no other way. HOWEVER, would Marcus Dupree have ever played a down for Gary? I believe it's true - no, I know - that some kids have an extra gear that the bright lights turn on. Henry Josey? If Gary coached BB would Allen Iverson ever play? If not I guarantee games would be lost. You can be "right" in your philosophy to the extent of losing games.
This I know for sure, what MU is doing now on offense isn't working. The O-line isn't effective and Ish is very, very easily knocked off his pins and struggles mightily in blocking (and I'm being kind). We have a 6'2" RB who weighs 218 and fast. He gets one carry a game and averages about 3 times as many yards as Ish when he gets his chance. I would humbly suggest we give this kid the ball at least 10-15 times and see what happens. It might just help the O-Line, no? It's amazing how the Rams O-line suddenly got much better with Todd Gurley in the game. This might grate HCGP's winning formula though. Thoughts?
PS - IF the best players would have played, MU might just have won the UK game - and I'm not just talking RB.
