The CBS player of the year in basketball is a former 3* recruit with only one offer from a school outside of the state of Illinois. Now a SR on one of the best teams in the country.
Take it for what you will. My take is the best way for us to get better as a program is to find kids who will stay for at least 3-4 years and develop them. We may get a Porter every now and then but we need to focus on working from the ground up. That is who we are and always have been.
Norms teams were that way, and the teams that won the most with the last three coaches were all mature teams with very little superstar players. Forget the "ace recruiter" BS. Find a coach who can coach (KA or whoever) and give them the opportunity to develop. This is not a short term fix regardless of who is on the bench.
