this year is the best I've seen from an early season ranking standpoint. We are seeing a shift from "best team" type rankings to actual "best resume" rankings. Not perfect yet but every other year Ohio state would stay close to unanimous in both polls. Utah would not get close to the support in prior years for #1 that they are getting this year.
Every week at the end of last year we heard about each team's resume and how they should be ranked based on "body of work". This has affected how teams are ranked greatly IMO. Rankings will continue to be positively affected by this change.
