American sports but mostly the NFL but all 4 of the major sports needs to adopt the European model of flights.
Ill preface by saying what Kroenke is doing is IMO the worst thing about sports outside of throwing a match. The owners like Kroenke can shut out a city like STL or San Diego because they feel their team deserves public money to build and maintain a private institution. However, cities like San Diego and St Louis as well as Oakland if they lose out on their team will likely never see another team for at least 25 or more years.
Yet, in Europe there model is to reward owners and fans of teams that win and move down those that dont without holding the city hostage to the teams performance.
The Rams have been historically one of the worst run franchises since the early 90's with a 3-5 year run of winning. Fan support has been excellent considering the product yet the city and the fans of the team are the ones punished.
Lets take the European model for the NFL in STL and hockey for KC. I bring KC into this because of the Sprint Center and what was built to lure a team. Instead of luring a team they could have incorporated a team in one of the lower divisions and with an owner dedicated to winning would have the chance to play in the top flight.
Much the same with the Rams, because they suck they would have been dropped to the lower division. But by being dropped to the lower division this puts the pressure on the owner to upgrade the team or the facilities and not the fans or the city.
