This was just ugly. The whole time. People who didn't watch this game might see 35-21 and think it was somewhat competitive. It wasn't. Ever.

What we found out today is it wasn't all scheme and it wasn't all DeMontie Cross' fault. Now, I'm not excusing him from it, but Missouri ran the same defense it did last year for the most part and despite the defensive players trying to tell us how they liked it more, how they didn't have to think as much and how they thought the defense played pretty well, the result was every bit as disastrous as most of the rest of the season. One thing I can say, though, and it's been a consensus among the media here, is that we all get the feeling that the players aren't big fans of Cross. What that means for his future, I have no idea. That will be dealt with after the season. For now, he's a highly paid linebackers coach. To me, switching now is kind of the equivalent of lifting your starter AFTER he gave up the three-run homer. I mean, okay, try what you need to try, but if you were gonna make a move like this, I think it should have been done before a season-crushing loss to Middle Tennessee.

The offense wasn't better.

I asked Barry Odom after the game what he had on this team that he could count on. He said when they have lifting tomorrow the guys will show up and give their best effort. In other words, there's nothing he can count on come game time. And that's not good. And it's why you see players being shuttled in and out like a three dollar gas station car wash. They're desperately searching for someone, anyone, anything that can give this team a spark and show up two or three Saturdays in a row. So far, they haven't found it.

I still have no reason to believe Odom's job is in any jeopardy after this season. Maybe it went from 0% chance he gets fired to 3% chance today. But realistically, I can't see a situation where that happens. As for the staff and the roster, yeah, that's gonna change after this year. I have very little doubt at that.

It's not good. None of it's good. I'm not going to pretend it is. It's a terrible time to be a Mizzou fan. If you stick it out, I'm going to assume at some point it will get better. But it's probably not going to be real soon. But hey, you've got this

That's all I got. Vent away. I'm gonna get dinner and flip between Clemson/FSU and the World Series
