I spent much of this game thinking exactly what many of you have posted many times: The officiating is making this unwatchable.
Both teams were in the bonus just more than seven minutes into the second half. Both were in the DOUBLE BONUS with more than eight minutes to play. There were some bad calls both ways. I don't think the refs favored either team, I think they were just generally craptastic and made this a horrible game to watch. Anytime teams coached by Frank and Cuonzo Martin meet up, it's going to be a rock fight, but at least the zebras might stay out of the way sometimes. That wasn't the case today.
As far as the actual game, that's the Torrence Watson we thought we'd see a lot more of. And the Kevin Puryear we thought we'd see a lot more of. And if we had, who knows. But we didn't. Good for Puryear though. The kid has had a bad year. He knows it, I know it and you know it. Glad to see him have a good day. He deserves it. I hope he gets one more next Saturday.
Reed Nikko has really impressed me. With him on the floor, Missouri outscored South Carolina by 15. With Jeremiah Tilmon on the floor, Mizzou got outscored by two. It wasn't that Tilmon was bad. He was fine. But Nikko, maybe more than anyone else, has finally found his role on this team and filled it.
South Carolina's not very good as it's currently put together, especially when Chris Silva no-shows. But Missouri's lost to teams worse than the Gamecocks this year and when you're starving, you don't turn down day-old bread. So don't apologize for the win. Heck, you've got Georgia on Wednesday and they're not any good either. Maybe you can win another one. And then Ole Miss is here and who knows? You know what they call three straight wins?
Enjoy the night. I'm gonna brace for Snowpocalypse 2019, part 15
