Big win. As Cuonzo said after the game, not a good win, but a great win.
That's a scary Stephen F. Austin team. One of the most athletic teams Missouri will face. Missouri has had trouble closing out games, but I thought this one was different. In the last two minutes, more than Missouri screwing up, the Lumberjacks made some HUGE shots. And Missouri withstood them and survived.
It wasn't pretty and it wasn't easy. But it was a win. Cuonzo had a really good point after the game. I'll paraphrase but he said that the guys here have been through so many tough times in the last couple of years that winning games is enough. Just win. The how and the style points aren't important. Win games. He said if they'd lost a couple earlier this year, they probably don't win one. This is a confident team and a team that's starting to believe.
One thing I wonder is when he'll trust Blake Harris. Because he doesn't yet. Jordan Geist was dreadful for the first 36 minutes, but he was the guy on the floor the last four. And credit to him, he got it done. But I still think Harris is the best point guard on this team.
Jordan Barnett was great for 25 minutes and then the shots just quit falling.
Robertson was the reason they won this game.
Tilmon continues to impress me.
This wasn't Jontay Porter's night, but he did have a big play with a blocked shot to help Mizzou get that six point lead with two minutes left--and in a game like this, every single play mattered.
This is a fun team to watch and a fun one to cover.
The video on the front page has all of Cuonzo's comments including an update on MPJ. If Missouri ever needs to change coaches again, my vote is for Kyle Keller. That dude had my favorite post-game presser at Mizzou Arena in a long time and I'm sorry I didn't record it.
Video and a story on the front, Keegan's got another one coming. We'll be back at it at 7 am for signing day tomorrow. We expect the bulk of Missouri's class to sign on Wednesday.
