I was fortunate to be able to attend the event held at the White River Conference Center at Bass Pro Shops. Great event as usual with well over 250+ in attendance. Thank you @Cheev for keeping this event going!!
I can say without a doubt that Dennis Gates worked the room very well. He seemed completely genuine and interested in meeting the attendees. Shook hands and talked briefly with everyone at our table. Excellent representation!!! Thanked the fans for supporting and attending the men's games. Stated it makes a huge difference and the players/staff really appreciate the big crowds. He also stated that this past season did not go well as the team did not fulfill the goals set forth. He wants a national championship and to be a Hall of Fame coach. He stated both go hand in hand and needs to accomplish much at Mizzou to make the HOF.
Coach Drink was his usual humorous self with the microphone. Talked about both the offense and defense and talked briefly about the QB situation. Nothing new really surfaced that has not been discussed on this board previously. Drink was asked about the football SEC teams and who his 3 choices would be to play every season. His answer was Vanderbilt, Arkansas and Oklahoma.
Robin Pingeton discussed the team and getting to post season play. She recognized the WNIT is not the NCAA tourney and the goal is to get to the NCAA. Said she is still actively recruiting the portal for players. After the meeting, I had a chance to discuss a couple of players with her. She is very excited about the player from UMass that has signed. One other interesting note she shared was in regard to other coaches contacting her players that are not in the portal. Said it is very frustrating. She mentioned it had happened with several players on her team.
Overall, a great event!! M I Z
