BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Mizzou Men’s Basketball’s lineup of Southeastern Conference home games will include league opponents Arkansas (Feb. 4), Kentucky (Feb. 21) and Texas A&M (Feb. 28), as the league office announced the 2017 conference schedule on Tuesday. The Tigers’ slate of 18 SEC contests begins at home with LSU visiting Mizzou Arena on Wednesday, Jan. 4 (8 p.m. CT on SEC Network).
“The most exciting part of unveiling the 2017 Southeastern Conference schedule is seeing the number of opportunities that our young team will have to play in front of our outstanding Mizzou fans,” head coach Kim Anderson said. “The SEC never gets any easier, but it’s a challenge we’re looking forward to facing with this squad. Making Mizzou Arena one of the best possible environments for basketball starts with us, so we’ll be working as hard as we can every possible day until the season gets here.”
After opening with LSU, Anderson’s group heads to Georgia on Saturday, Jan. 7 (Noon CT on SEC Network). The Tigers return home to host Auburn on Tuesday, Jan. 10 (6 p.m. CT on SEC Network) before a road trip to Arkansas on Saturday, Jan. 14 (5 p.m.CT on SEC Network). Mizzou will continue on the road at Alabama on Wednesday, Jan. 18, with a 7 p.m. tipoff scheduled for ESPNU.
Three more games close out the month of January, with two Mizzou Arena matchups bookending an away game. The Tigers host Ole Miss on Saturday, Jan. 21 (2:30 p.m. CT on SEC Network) before heading to Mississippi State on Wednesday, Jan. 25(6 p.m. CT on SEC Network). Mizzou welcomes South Carolina to Columbia on Saturday, Jan. 28(7:30 p.m. CT on SEC Network).
The Tigers open the month of February on the road at Florida on Thursday, Feb. 2, with the game scheduled for broadcast on either ESPN or ESPN2 at 6 p.m. CT. The trip to Gainesville will be Mizzou’s first since the 2013-14 season. Mizzou will have a quick turnaround as it heads home to host Arkansas on Saturday, Feb. 4 (5 p.m. CT on SEC Network).
On Wednesday, Feb. 8, Mizzou will visit Texas A&M (7:30 p.m. CT on SEC Network). The Tigers return home to host Vanderbilt on Saturday, Feb. 11 (2:30 p.m. CT on SEC Network) and Alabama on Wednesday, Feb. 15 (7:30 p.m. CT on SEC Network). Both the Commodores and Crimson Tide will make appearances at Mizzou Arena for the first time since the 2013-14 season.
The Tigers will visit Tennessee for the first time since the 2013-14 season on Saturday, Feb. 18 (Noon CT on SEC Network). Anderson’s squad then heads back to Mizzou Arena to take on Kentucky on Tuesday, Feb. 21 (8 p.m. CT on SEC Network).
Mizzou closes out the 2016-17 home schedule with a Tuesday, Feb. 28-matchup with Texas A&M (6 p.m.CT on SEC Network) for Senior Night. The Tigers-Aggies matchup is bookended by road trips to Ole Miss (Saturday, Feb. 25, 2:30 p.m. CT) and Auburn (Saturday, March 4, 2:30 p.m. CT), both scheduled for broadcast on the SEC Network.
The SEC Network will televise the first three days of the SEC Basketball Tournament (March 8-12) from Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee. The semifinals and championship game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN.
