From College Football News:
- Ohio State lost QB Devin Brown to a leg injury early on, and the offense had nothing that worked for freshman Lincoln Keinholz. It wasn’t the totally untested third-string quarterback’s fault - he didn’t get a whole lot of help - but Ohio State was still able to take a 3-0 lead into the fourth quarter. The D did everything it could, but got gassed.
- The Buckeyes caught a big break early on. Brown fumbled deep in OSU territory and Missouri grabbed the ball, but it was called a fumble recovery by Brown. It didn’t end up making a difference, but for almost three quarters it looked like that Missouri might have needed that field position.

- This is a moment for Missouri and head coach Eliah Drinkwitz. He’s a high-energy coach who will get his team to the first 11-win season at the school since 2014, got the first bowl victory since then, and closed out the season with a win over Ohio State and an almost certain top 8 finish. It’s also the first winning season since 2018.
- Ohio State’s defense was close to - horrible term for a dumb football game, but I’ll lazily go with it - heroic. It did everything possible to keep down a great SEC offense with all of its parts, but the dam finally broke 45 minutes in. As great as that side of the ball was, and as well as it held time and again with bad field position, it didn’t get a lick of help.
- Oh will the Buckeye fan base not like this. Ryan Day was already getting roasted for losing to Michigan two years in a row. Even though his team last year came within a missed field goal of almost certainly winning the national title, and even though this isn’t that big a deal considering it’s National Title Or Bust for this program, not having any creative ideas for the offense won’t sit well.

Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic What It All Means
- Give Missouri all of the credit in this. It’s not Mizzou’s fault that Ohio State didn’t have a plan in case Brown got hurt. It’s still Ohio State - it has a whole lot of talent on that field - but Keinholz was thrown to the wolves. He did everything he could, but Missouri’s defense was all over everything the Buckeyes tried to do.- This is a moment for Missouri and head coach Eliah Drinkwitz.
