If you have watched MU the last three years what you saw was pretty good athletes but not good basketball players. What you see now are players who are ok to decent athletes that have court vision and passing skills. This is the most underrated part of scouting and totally ignored on the internet. The last two teams at MU were the worst in those areas in the history of Mu. The worst. this years team appears to be pretty good in those areas. It doesnt measure well like 40 times do or jumping skills but its crucial when trying to score against good teams. Just one case in point, TP runs the break and makes a horrible pass to Nikko in the paint. Its a pass that was a guaranteed turn over the last two years. This time Nikko caught it, didnt travel, passed to hughes (vision) who sunk a three. If you are paying attention its THE difference in this team versus the abysmal failures of the last two years. Point two, Smith rebounds in the second half and immediately outlets it upcourt to an easy basket. Again he gets no assist but by seeing the player and getting rid of the ball, its a basket.
How many wins do you get with these types of players. More than you got last year. How many is that? Not sure yet but its sure a lot more fun to watch.
By the way Anderson said 18 months ago he was going to this approach. Anybody still go that quote handy?
