Glad to see big MO make some progress. Up to 7.0% with first shot and 2.1% fully vaccinated. The 7.0% ranks us 6th to last. But you have to start somewhere since we had been dead last for a while.
The mass vaccination sites are getting the vaccine out. 20k last Friday and they are hopeful for the same result this Friday. To bounce our numbers. 20k is about 1/3 of a percent of the MO population.
Additionally, ST Louis County won't be relying on the National Guard to organize their sites. And are setting up for daily progress and expect to be able to distribute 500-1000/day at their first mass location (North STL County) starting today (est 5k/week). Unfortunately, STL County has not received any doses (from the state) in the last two weeks, so they have pulled back nearly 4k does from hospitals to supply the mass vaccination site. Three smaller locations are beginning distrubtion on Thursday. More are in the works.
In the end, the issue will be supply. And we'll see if Missouri can keep moving up the board. Remember, the mass vaccination sites have to slow/stop first doses after 3 weeks and to start providing second doses. Slowing down progress on the first dose statistic.
Finally, the bootheel was provided 2k doses for this Friday. Registration opened on Monday, but they still have appointments available (as of this writing, ~100 appts available, down from 1000 this morning). While all other mass vaccination locations are already full. I know of anecdotal stories of friend's parents getting together to road trip down on Friday for their shots (3h each way). A little free market correction by the STL olds. If the vaccine doesn't come to you, go to the vaccine. Of course, they have to road trip again in 3 weeks.
Maybe a bit of a warning. If traffic is slow on 55 on Friday. Well, you know why.
