@GabeD touched on the subject of parity today, and I'm curious if anyone has thought about ways that parity could be addressed in a sustainable manner.

I think the only relatively fair way to handle this issue is sadly with money. Here's what I would propose.

  1. Division 1 schools are allowed a $1,000,000 pool of money that can be paid to their football roster.
  2. When an athlete signs a scholarship with a D1 school, a savings account is opened by the NCAA and in their name.
  3. Each scholarship athlete must receive $5,000 into that fund from the $1,000,000 pool (82x5k = $410,000)
  4. The remaining $590,000 can be distributed at the coaches discretion to their signing class and this agreement is bound to the scholarship.
  5. The fund pays out up to $2,500 each semester until the account reaches $0
  6. Athletes will not have access to any remaining balance as long as they wish to remain eligible to play college football.

To me, this will allow more schools an equal opportunity to go after elite talent while also allowing the corrupt and incompetent NCAA to monitor the funds being sent to players.

**Oh, and if you want to know where the money comes from, I'd suggest maybe renegotiating some of these ridiculous college coaches' contracts.
