South Carolina is a tough physical team. Had good practices.
SEC as a whole one of the best in the country. When he left, there were teams that you would beat on the road and the RPI would fall. SEC took a lot of pride in rebuilding the strength of the conference and the RPI.
SC: Tough, physical, don't back down. Coming off going to a Final Four, it gets passed down to younger guys in your program.
Break was good to get some time off and go back to fundamentals.
Thinks they should make it a rule teams can't play a game between Christmas and New Year's. Give kids a chance to get away and be with family. Says it's the most time off he's had since he left high school
Talking about Jontay and Kevin, how a lot of the offense goes through that position and that's why they need more from that spot.
Point guard: Continue to work to get better. Turnovers aren't necessarily just those guys. Going to continue to play them all.
On Porter injury: Wasn't familiar with the extent of it prior to him getting here. Didn't know a lot of it because he didn't really recruit him.
He's around when he's around, but it's hard when you're not practicing...
"I never make calls when you're talking about physical health. That's not my place as a coach...I never want a player to feel like coach is pressuring me to play...You don't want to pressure a young man to do something. The pressure won't come from me as a coach. That's trainers and doctors decisions to make."
Says he's never asked Porter or the doctors when he will come back. Doesn't want to come off as pressuring him.
"I like our team. I like them a lot. We're doing a lot of really good things." Need to minimize turnovers, continue to try to get the ball inside, continue to improve defensively.
