I think we are beginning to see why Tennessee and Cal’s fanbases weren’t sad to see him leave. There is no doubting he is a hell of a motivator. He’s a good recruiter. But dear lord does he leave a lot to be desired as a gameday coach.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m still happy he is our coach. This turn around has been fun to watch and Cuonzo has injected some life into this program that was simply dead.
I’m sure this will get roasted, but I think it’s fair to at least question his gameday coaching. Why doesn’t he ever call timeout? Why does Geist always have the ball in his hands at the end of the game? Why do we always let teams go on runs out of timeouts? Why don’t our guys run the baseline after a made basket? Why can’t we run a BOB play? Why can’t we ever get a good shot at the end of a game/half? It’s a season long pattern at this point.
