With the departure of T.J. Otzelberger, UNLV is looking for its sixth head coach in 10 years.

Was listening to Petro and Blair this afternoon and Petro mentioned that Cuonzo is on the Vegas shortlist to be their next head coach. He has ties with the UNLV AD, and it was mentioned during the show that while leaving in the middle of a 7 year contract does not seem likely, Cuonzo could have several circumstances playing here. Most revolve around an agent reaching out saying they would listen.... because... 1) He may recognize that this is as good as it is going to get. 2) He's playing the shot clock game. 3)Recruiting StL, something he thought he could do well, is harder than he expected and he is not getting the results. 4) This is a move to encourage a contract extension.
If this is a move to extend the contract then Cuonzo needs to understand that we have had a suitcase coach already and that does not fly with the fans. The other reasons I could understand... but I don't know that going to UNLV will solve anything.
There is smoke, but no fire as of yet (that I know of)... thought I would share and see what y'all think or have heard.
